Assistant capabilities
The Assistant is purpose-built for meetings and its capabilities adapt based on where you're at in the workspace. This way, the context is always relevant to the work you're doing.
Capabilities by Assistant location
The Assistant's menu adapts to where you open it. Each location is scoped to the right context and unlocks a different set of capabilities.

Home / Workspace Assistant
Home and the standalone Assistant in the sidebar share the same menu. Scoped to your entire workspace.
This is the only Assistant location with context filters to control which meeting information the Assistant uses in its response:
- Date range: Filter to meetings within a specific period.
- Participants: Filter by people who attended.
- Labels: Filter by labels.
- Space: Filter by space.
The ability to search all notes is always on. The Workspace Assistant responses include source links back to the meetings it drew from. Click a source link to jump to the relevant meeting.
When you select a connected tool, the Assistant starts a discovery conversation: it lists everything you can do with that integration and asks what you'd like to accomplish.
Upcoming meetings
Scoped to preparation context — participants, prior conversations, and connected-tool history before the call. The Assistant helps you get ready.
Preset connected tool actions are preparation-oriented:
- Gmail: Draft a pre-meeting email with agenda and open questions
- Slack: Share preparation notes and context
- Notion: Create preparation pages or log the upcoming meeting
- Google Docs: Create a document with agenda and participant context
- Attio: Attach preparation notes to a contact or create preparation tasks
- Linear / ClickUp: Create issues or tasks to prepare for the meeting
Live meetings
Scoped to the live transcript and meeting context. The Assistant can see screen frames and hear audio, giving it real-time awareness of what's happening. Web search is a toggle you can turn on or off.
Unique capabilities:
- The Assistant can join meetings as a participant (see Assistant joining meetings)
- See meeting and Hear meeting controls for live video and audio access
- Proactive agent toggles to configure which agents can act during the call
- Invite agent into call to bring an eligible agent into the meeting as a participant (see Agents joining meetings)
Preset connected tool actions are scoped to the live meeting — the Assistant uses what's been discussed so far:
- Gmail: Draft a mid-meeting email with key points and decisions
- Slack: Post a live update on the discussion
- Google Calendar: Schedule based on what's been discussed
- Linear: Create issues from decisions and topics raised so far
- ClickUp: Create tasks from action items raised so far
Recaps
The Assistant answers with responses scoped to that completed meeting's notes and transcript, unless additional capabilities are enabled. Web search is a toggle.
This is the only location with agentic workflows — you can launch multi-step agent workflows directly from the recap.
Preset connected tool actions use the meeting's final content:
- Notion: Create pages or update databases from the recap
- Google Docs: Create documents from meeting notes
- Attio: Add notes, tasks, or update contacts
- Gmail: Draft a follow-up email from the recap
- Slack: Share a summary in a channel
Spaces
Assistant includes the scope of all meetings within that space. The space itself acts as the filter, so global context filters aren't available — they're not needed. Chats are private to each person even if the space is shared. Space owners and members can use the Assistant; guests cannot (see Sharing spaces).
Connected tools include preset actions similar to recaps, but every action is scoped to all the meetings in this space.
Connected tools by Assistant location
Connected Tools are available in every Assistant location, but the suggested actions adapt to the context.
In the global Assistant, selecting a connected tool starts a discovery conversation — the Assistant asks what you'd like to do and lists available actions. In briefs, live meetings, recaps, selecting a tool reveals preset actions. The user can choose to ignore these preset actions and engage with the tools however they need.
The exact apps shown depend on which integrations you have connected.
Streaming responses and live status
When you ask the Assistant a question, it streams the response and shows live status indicators such as "searching," "reading transcript," and "analyzing." This transparency lets you follow along as it works.
Web search
The Assistant can search the web to supplement its meeting knowledge. Toggle web search mode on or off depending on whether you want answers grounded in your meetings or broader internet context.
